@missclairebenjamin: How to handle being micromanaged When we’re being micromanaged, it can feel very suffocating. And because of the power dynamic that exists between you and your manager, it’s not always easy to know how best to approach it. The best approach will always avoid criticism and focus on building trust and creating clear lines of communication. Initiating this type of conversation puts you in a good position to influence the dynamic and create a working relationship where your needs are being met too. Have you ever been micromanaged? How did you approach it? #worktips #assertivecommunication #leadershipdevelopment #emotionalintelligence #difficultsituations
Nah. Micromanage the Micromanager. Send them updates and emails and messages all day long before they can ask you and eventually they will burn out. Success!

I malicious comply and copy them on every little thing. If they want to know what I’m doing, then they’ll find out. 😂😂

this is great advice. I have been micromanaged before and it was so demoralizing.

I do this with my one of my employees. because I would assign him a simple task yet a crucial part of a project like raising a ticket or writing an email, he wouldn't do it until I ask about, then he'd apologize and do it immediately.
And if I was too busy to ask, he'd leave it for weeks .
Sometimes he somes to work after I do and leaves before work hours are over.
He admitted that he doesn't attend early meeting because he oversleeps !
Am I micromanage him ?
I have other employees that are reliable and I trust them, I don't need to follow up with them .

Micromanaging (for the most part) is a waste of time for both the manager & the team member however, after 15 years in management there are ABSOLUTELY some people who need to be micromanaged. If you know, you know.

Nope ... there was no accountability for this behaviour, it's a form of abuse in the workplace as it causes emotional and psychological harm in that work place. I would let the manager know what they are doing and l to stop

option one is so real: 'sure, no problem!' and then replaying it in the shower for a week 😭 the calm early version is so much easier

When I am dealing with a micromanage, I get ahead of their requests so that they are never able to catch me. After three or four times where they come to check up on me, only to find I’ve already done what they requested, they start to feel secure and leave me alone. Plus they love me! Being micromanaged should be a short term issue where you can reassure them, and impress them. Changing the whole relationship! Try it. It’s an opportunity!
