The shooting happened just a few miles from my home... I am struggling to breathe today. I did get my ballot so in their honor I'll be voting today and no kings tomorrow.... I'm just going through the motions though... I am devastated by yesterday's events.

As a retired teacher her, my anxiety level ramps up with every shoot pew pew event. We connected with Columbine when it happened. Our school district worked closely with them. My choir kids sent a recording to them- their own student-led gift. Still think about them💔

I was just listening to the talk on TV about the question of how to make the school buildings harder to be entered by a shooter while the REAL question is how can we get our government to impose better laws regarding pew pews.

As a retired Paraeducator who taught in special education specialized classrooms here in Oregon…I’m feeling so many emotions. Deep sadness of course. Shock, but also not surprised. I’ve had scary students with major behavioral disorders that could easily fit the profile. And of course RAGE. Because it’s still happening. The schools have done a lot of safety trainings as well as locking down schools so it’s difficult to enter. I believe it was so easy for this child to enter because was an old student. But I haven’t heard how he actually got inside. Something has to change!!!! 😔
