the thing is that more 2000s the artists made their money from Cassettes, CDs etc and the concerts were basically advertising. nowadays with streaming it is the opposite

When I first started going to concerts (70’s) you could go see the biggest bands of the day for like $8 bucks! If you wanted front row tickets, it was like $12-$14 bucks.

I get everyone needs to get paid, the venue, promoters, sponsors, the crew, the band, etc. But it’s the fans gouging I can’t stand. I saw the Foo Fighters in 2024- when I went on and bought tickets, I had to accept a disclaimer stating that if I was going to re-sell my tickets, they wouldn’t allow me to charge more than what I paid. And now that we’re in the digital entry stage, I hope that’s the future

Paul Heaton of Beautiful South fame still does this with his ticket prices. He will not charge more than £35 even in 2026.

Artists don’t set the ticket prices. It’s unfortunately their management company who do this. And as we know in the world today the music business is messed up in any case.
