Idk about the nuggets (don’t get me wrong, McDonald’s is making money hand over fist) but giving someone a free upsize on their popcorn or even just a free refill isn’t bad. I’ve been AMC before where they obviously had popcorn left over from the day before or as much as two days before and the popcorn tasted stale. So just refill the damn popcorn for free.

It is a big deal. Theaters make most of their money off concessions. They inventory by tracking small, medium & large cups for popcorn & soda. Every time he gave away a large cup, it has nothing to do with the actual popcorn. When the manager reconciles the books (it’s done every night) they will come up short with how much money should have come in vs what did. This could cause the manager to loose some of his performance bonus, based on sales goals. The theater is selling you the cup, not the popcorn or drink

I do the same thing every time I work at a food place. I always give a little bit extra and I get no complaints but I tell you what, people remember my face when they walk back in the store

I worked at a movie theater in college popcorn is cheapppppppp!!!!. we used to take garbage bags full home.

unfortunately it doesn't hurt the company, but the individual store. It creates a shortage in the inventory. The store only gets so much money a year to operate on. If you give out just 3 extra nuggets to every person, every day, that's going to run up into thousands of dollars. That means no raises for the crew.
