@wire_you_mad: Two-phase power is dead. And if you’re still running into it, you’re working in a museum. - Single-phase is what runs your house - one wave of power, 120/240V. It gets the job done. Three-phase is what runs the real world - three waves, offset, delivering power smooth and constant. That’s why every big motor, every commercial building, every industrial site runs on it. Two-phase was the stepping stone. It worked. Then three-phase showed up and made it obsolete. If you’re still seeing two-phase in the field, you’re looking at history. Which one do you work on most - single or three? Want to actually understand this stuff instead of just pulling wire? Link in bio 🔗 #bluecollar #electrical #electrician #sparky #apprentice

No. 2 wires from a 3 phase system is not single phase. They are 120 degrees out of phase with each other.

It was never a phase. It’s a lifestyle.

Once upon a time I used to call 2 hots an amazing night… even more so if they carried the load

2 hot legs of a 3 phase system is still 3 phase.

Two phase isn’t dead, it’s getting there, but it’s ALL OVER Philly, I’ve got 12 elevators on my route that are two phase

I have heard it called split phase before. I don't know where that term came from. It's incorrect but I've heard it several times over the years.

why would someone try to explain this to people who think there is 2 phase lol?

. dont fuxking confuse people with this. yoj need to explain that the voltage between both lines is higher even though its a single phase. you are using 2 phases of a 3 phase system so the voltage will be L-L
single phase with the neutral is lower voltage.

Edison 3 wire system is what almost all rural houses run on.
& they are 180 degrees out of phase. not 120 degrees out.
and don't get me started
about sharing a neutral on a 3 phase 120/208 v system
or don't forget the Root of 3
or cubed root of3 [Perfect score] 😁

What about when you are working at a residential scenario with a split phase system and you use two hots to get 240v ? (Im just an apprentice )
