Straight up ten years ago they had a bill that would’ve required farmers to pull their farmlands back an extra 5-10 feet from riverbed to help regrow our river ecosystems and reduce runoff and it was pretty much laughed at because why in the world would we reduce our farmlands!?!

I didn't know you were a fellow Iowan - I share in your rage. I think it's been a problem for much longer than indicate. My parents, brother, and sister have all died from cancer. All different kinds.

I have an aquarium in my Iowa classroom. I have to do water changes to minimize nitrate levels in my tank. The fun part is now becoming the nitrate levels are higher in the tap than they are in my aquarium…

Also: if you have to pay to install water filtration, you shouldn’t have to pay for your water. Water is free…we pay for treatment and pumping costs. So if they’re not going to ensure the water is safe to drink, you shouldn’t have to pay for it.

I 100% agree, but just in case anyone needs it and can't afford the whole home filtration; an under sink Reverse Osmosis system is only $200-500 and easy to install without any plumbing experience. It's not perfect, but I now have peace of mind that my drinking water is relatively safe.

From Iowa … my dad passed from cancer , my mom has had breast cancer 2x, my grandpa passed from colon cancer , my grandma had breast cancer, and I have had 3 friends pass away young from cancer 😢🥺.. my husband had cancer in his chest … I’m so tired of it
