I had a lady call ahead and tell me she bought a case cake, forgetting the color pallet for her kid’s birthday and ask if I could change it. I thought she wanted to take off existing flowers and add on new ones in the right color. No, she wanted me to scrape the whole entire cake and completely redesign it

Oooh this makes me so mad. When I worked at Sam’s in the bakery, it would tick me off when people would want a cake for same day pick up. I always said they could choose one from the case or pick up tomorrow, but that was never good enough.

at my bakery, we are no longer to sell icing, plain cakes or cupcakes, images/personal images (no order), boards, boxes, or and packaging to customers. The reason is because we had lots of private bakeries buying from us to make their orders and we lose money as they charge triple the price. Corporate got tired of people coming in to get their products from us for their orders because they don't have them.

You are 100% NOT rude. It’s always the last-minute customers that give you the most crap because THEY didn’t remember a birthday or whatever it is and all of a sudden their problem has to be your problem. No thank you. Try at that point you get what you get.
