Then, he spent time staging her bedroom to create the illusion that Kim had committed suicide. He also posted messages on her social media accounts before contacting the East Midlands Ambulance Service for assistance at 5:30 a.m. Kim's suicide was promptly reported to paramedics and police officers by Thompson. Nevertheless, in the wake of her death, Kim's family and friends expressed their scepticism regarding her suicide, claiming that she had been formulating plans and disclosing her history of domestic violence to law enforcement. On August 12, a formal murder investigation was initiated, and Thompson was apprehended on suspicion of Kim's death.
