Good golfers don’t do the three things mentioned in this video. 1. Shaping driver outside of their natural pattern. You may see some players vary tee height depending on wind or tee it down lower for the “fairway finder” but most players don’t jump back and forth between fades and draws. The goal is to hit what is repeatable as often as possible. 2. Knock down wedges are king when it comes to distance control inside 120 yards. A few things not mentioned in the video that may help are keeping back swing and through swing roughly equal without rapid acceleration or deceleration, and building a wedge matrix. For every wedge I have two swings, chest high to chest high and shoulder high to shoulder high. Now each wedge has two stock numbers, between all of my wedges I have eight stock shots which makes just about every distance accessible. The easiest way to do this is to get on a reliable launch monitor, hit a minimum of 25 solid chest high to chest high shots and track the average carry. Then do this for shoulder high to shoulder high and note the carry. Do this for every wedge and make a chart. 3. “Never up, never in” is a terrible mind set on the greens. From distance the goal is to two putt, not make it. To two putt the easiest way to do this is to leave your first putt as close to the hole as possible. I’m not intentionally leaving putts short but I’m trying to hit it at dying pace so it stops at the cup. Sometimes it’s slightly long, sometimes it’s slightly short, but once you start hitting these with uneccesary speed you will three putt far more than you make.
