Complex Trauma pretty much guarantees loneliness down the line, and that's one of the harder parts of it to sit with. It usually starts early. A kid reaches out for help or connection and gets met with a parent who's too busy, too overwhelmed with their own stuff, or just doesn't have the tools to show up. So the attachment never quite forms, and a kid doesn't usually think "my parent couldn't do it." They think "it's because of me." That belief turns inward fast. Not attaching to a parent somehow becomes not attaching to yourself either, because somewhere in there you've decided you're the problem. And once that belief is in place, it doesn't just create loneliness, it actively protects it. If you already believe anyone who really gets to know you will eventually pull away, the safest move is to never let anyone close enough to find out. So the very thing that could undo the loneliness, real connection, feels like the biggest risk there is. ▶ "Recovery Dangers - Part 2/10 - Loneliness"
