It’s sad that restaurants have to enforce these things because I thought most of us grew up learning this as proper etiquette. No hats on at the table. No bags/purses on the table (on your lap or behind you on the chair) and no phones out at the table. If you have to take a call, take it outside or in the powder room. Whether you are in a restaurant or having dinner at home. Rules that have followed me since childhood.
