I was an addict for 38 years I had anxiety depression complex post traumatic stress disorder attention deficit disorder from childhood trauma I got sexually abused 4 times as a child I started running away from home I stole off my parents I moved out when I was 18 I slept on friends sofas as I never had a house of my own I was in and out of prisonbecause I broke into houses to get money for my drugs I started going to raves and selling drugs to feed my habit I lost 2 uncles and my dad to suicide when I was in my early 20s I met my future wife after we had our first son her mum passed away from addiction her dad passed away a month later I was married for 20 years we had 2 sons a daughter one morning I woke up found her next to me shed passed away in the bed I called an ambulane done chest compressions until the ambulance arrived but couldnt save her it broke my heart I had 7 mental break downs my family where worried about me and I went to the royal Edinburgh hospital thought Id get sectioned but they let me out I got drunk one night put my fists through my windows and nearly followed in my dads footsteps but I promised my wife Id look after our kids and I will keep that promise as long as Im still breathing I started going to my local church Granton baptist church they introduced me to a bunch of guys from freedom fighters I went to a camp with them in Auchenfoyle Scotland after going through a book named Keys to freedom I poured my heart out in that book I got baptised in a river in Auchenfoyle on yhe sunday I repented forgave my abusers and gave my heart to Jesus that day and Ive been drug free for 31 months Im a sinner saved by Grace a new creation in Christ Jesus
