@msnow: After a turbulent five days in the role, Katie Zacharia is out as White House press secretary, two White House officials familiar with her departure told MS NOW on Friday. The details — whether Zacharia voluntarily left her role or was directly fired — are still unclear. On Friday, President Donald Trump told reporters that he told Zacharia to “reconsider” her role #whitehouse #zacharia #trump #presssecretary

Jason :

@Jason: The shortest tenure of a White House press secretary in U.S. history is five days, a record set today, October 16, 2026. Katie Zacharia served under President Donald Trump from October 12 to October 16, 2026, before being removed from the position. For comparison: * Katie Zacharia: 5 days (2026) * Jonathan Daniels: 19 days (1945), the previous record. * Anthony Scaramucci: 10–11 days (2017), but he was White House communications director, not press secretary. Zacharia delivered only one formal White House press briefing, on October 13, lasting approximately 14 minutes. This is breaking news as of Friday, October 16, 2026.
