🍼 If you’re bottle feeding your baby, this is one simple change that can make a BIG difference. Newborns don’t just need milk, they need to be able to control the flow of that milk. When a bottle is held too vertically, gravity can make the milk flow much faster, meaning baby has to work hard to keep up. This can lead to gulping, coughing, spluttering, taking in more air and sometimes feeding more than they actually need. Instead, try paced bottle feeding: ✨ Keep baby in a more upright, supported position ✨ Hold the bottle more horizontally so the teat isn’t constantly full of milk ✨ Let baby pause and take breaks ✨ Follow their cues rather than encouraging them to finish the bottle ✨ Support their head and neck throughout the feed And remember — the aim isn’t to make feeding slower for the sake of it. It’s about giving your baby more control over their feed and allowing them to listen to their own hunger and fullness cues.
