The FADER reported that the discounts contributed to her dismissal, alongside repeatedly arriving late. In 2016, Cardi chose that same market for an interview with the magazine. By then, she was appearing on Love & Hip Hop and building a music career. During the visit, she spotted a longtime employee she remembered from her own days behind the register. “Who woulda known?” she said.
