That's according to Neodra Dynamics, the Beijing startup that built the beast named Neo1 that stands 4 meters (13 feet) and weighs 1,200 kg (2,600 lbs). It runs on a mix of electric motors and digital hydraulics, which use pressurized fluid to deliver powerful, precise movements. It's the same kind of technology that gives excavators and other heavy machinery their enormous strength. Neo1 has 41 independently controlled movements, including 15 in each hand. Miniature hydraulic actuators power 39 of them acting like artificial muscles. Each actuator weighs just 1 kg (2.2 lbs), but Neodra claims they can generate enough force to push loads weighing over a metric ton.
