Minnows school up in the warm, shallow water by the weeds: sink a trap with a little bread and it fills up while you fish, then hook one up through both lips so it can still breathe and swim. Worms hide under anything dark and damp: flip a log in the shade and grab them quick, before they pull back into the dirt. Hook it twice and leave both ends free to wiggle. Grasshoppers live in the tall grass: catch them early, while the dew keeps them slow, hook one just behind the head and let it kick on top. Bluegill can't stand it. Crawfish hide under the rocks at the water's edge: they shoot backward, so grab them from behind, and hook them through the tail. Bass can't resist.
