I work in bank compliance. File a complaint with both the lender’s regulator and the CFPB. You can Google who their regulator is. The regulators will require a response from the institution.

Call. Ever. Single. Day. Be annoying about it. Make it clear that the only way the calls will stops is if they do what they’re supposed to do.

This happened to me. You can go on all three credit bureaus and file a dispute. They will contact the company who put the inquiry in and it will get removed that way

When this happened to me, I did everything you did AND contacted the FTC and the IRS... got resolved real quick when the big entities got involved.

You are giving them to much time. Call them EVERYDAY! Once you are a true annoyance. They will do something. Show up at the office. When I want something done. I do something everyday!

Report it to CFPB, OCC and the BBB. They are required to complete an investigation and update your credit file. If this is happening to you, it’s happening to others

File a complaint with the Attorney Generals office in your state against the company AND in the state where that company is located AND in the state where that company’s corporate office is OR parent company. You need to notify all 3 credit bureaus of identity theft. 🥰

Stop dealing with the Security branch directly. They absolutely should have followed up to make sure someone above them handled it but they have no control over credit reporting. Call their home office. They should have someone specifically that handles credit reporting since it’s a fairly large company. Get their email and ask them to respond via email confirming they got it so you have a paper trail. Include your police report. It doesn’t have to be resolved, just you filing one is enough.

I got a debit card from a company I do not bank with. I called the company to inform them, they told me to just disregard it. What?! I called back and spoke to the fraud department. The first person should have directed me there 🤦🏻‍♀️

Does your local news station do segments on stuff like this? I think ours does.. like when ppl can’t get responses from companies etc and they’re having issues an investigative reporter gets involved. October is cybersecurity month- it would make a good story!

Some guy opened a bank account and bought a whole house under my social security number took me years to get them to close the account. I threatened an attorney and they closed it.

It’s usually a 2-5 points hit on your credit score. The most concerning thing is who did a loan over the phone using your social security number but you froze your credit so it won’t happen again.

You can file a dispute with all three credit bureaus about the inquiry and say that it wasn’t you that applied for credit. Stop going through security finance.. it won’t get you anywhere
