@beyondthebackstretch: Why Shouldn’t the Thoroughbred Have a Place in Today’s Sport Horse Market? Somewhere along the way, Warmbloods became the gold standard for beautiful movement, athleticism, and success in the show ring. But when did those qualities stop being associated with Thoroughbreds? Thoroughbreds are naturally athletic, intelligent, balanced, and capable of beautiful movement. They have the scope, heart, endurance, and versatility to excel in so many disciplines. And perhaps one of their greatest attributes is their ability to make us better riders. Their sensitivity teaches feel. Their responsiveness teaches timing. Their intelligence challenges us to ride with tact, patience, and understanding. Warmbloods are exceptional athletes, but they haven’t cornered the market on talent, movement, or rideability. The Thoroughbred hasn’t lost its athletic ability. Somewhere along the way, it lost its marketability. We don’t need to take anything away from the Warmblood. We simply need to give the Thoroughbred back the recognition it deserves.
