Did you really use a measuring cup to put sugar in another measuring cup? My grandma always told me the measuring cups like you have in your sugar. The metal one is for dry ingredients where the cup made of glass is for wet ingredients. Not sure why it really makes a difference, but there you go.

This is gonna sound stupid: Dragonflies. They're predators that eat other bugs. Flies, wasps, ect. So you put realistic-ish looking plastic dragonflies on floral wire stakes and put them out in your yard. Doesn't scar off everything, but helps. You can clip the to you too (like if you're out fishing or whatever)

that won't actually work. mosquitoes are attracted to the CO2 we emit, our body heat AND the scent of our sweat (pheromones). you have to mimic all 3 of those things for any trap to have a chance to work.

Just use humidifier with a little sage, basil, rosemary or mint essential oils mixed with water in it and put it next to your bed. You can also plant them in your garden to use as insect replants for your garden and as spices for your kitchen.

Cut higher on the bottle do thst when inverted the neck isn’t in the liquid. It should create a funnel into the air above the liquid. The idea being it’s easy to fly in but not out
