Any exposed piece is going to go out of fashion and anything connected to the internet or an offsite server is just not future proof on a technical level. "Timeless and elegant" is still at the mercy of trends and that golden metal keypad will look tacky as h*** in 20 years. It looks like a 70s elevator keypad. That particular color and design are very trendy today, but would have stuck out terribly 20 years ago, so it will eventually stick out terribly in the future. If you want to stay on trend, just plan on upgrading everything every 10 to 20 years and have the conduit necessary to rerun everything. Otherwise, accept that your smart home will feel very mid-2020s in the future and live with it.
