@lizwilliamsn: SHAMFA SAYS HER HUSBAND WAS FIRED FROM HIS JOB DUE TO POLITICAL DISCRIMINATION People's National Movement (PNM) Tobago Council Political Leader Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis has alleged that her husband was dismissed from his job due to 'political discrimination', while speaking candidly about the financial hurdles of serving in opposition politics. The political leader detailed the economic realities facing opposition figures, revealing that she has been without an income for a year and a half. 'Because when you're in opposition, you you don't have any salary coming in, like for me, for a year and a half I have no salary coming in, but I out here in the fray, you know?' Mrs Cudjoe-Lewis stated. She explained that the personal burden intensifies when an individual is tasked with providing for their family. 'And then you also have to take into consideration, um, if you are the breadwinner in your family, you have to really stand up and make sure that you could take care of your household,' she said. Mrs Cudjoe-Lewis subsequently shared personal developments regarding her household's employment status, directly questioning the dismissal of her spouse. 'In my, in my case for instance, I am without job from since last April, and the government saw it fit to fire my husband, uh, I think based on political discrimination,' she stated. The PNM Tobago leader also commended colleagues who have turned to private enterprise to sustain themselves, noting the launch of a new venture. 'I congratulate Kevon on opening Cafe Nirvana, it has been doing well, so I salute him in that regard,' she remarked, adding that projects should 'just allow him to get his business off the ground'. Reflecting on the ongoing realities of political life outside public office, she concluded that 'when you're in opposition, it's a real' challenge.
