The blaze started in the Encinal Canyon area, near the Camp Kilpatrick juvenile detention facility, at around 4:40 p.m. While evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect, officials said crews made some progress overnight, with the fire 17% contained after scorching more than 200 acres.
