@jamierobinscoach: Turns out, one of the best things about coming to France is ending up playing pétanque with a bunch of English and French people I’d never met before. Different languages. Different backgrounds. Different lives. And for an hour or so, none of that really mattered. We were just people throwing metal balls down a dusty bit of ground, laughing, taking the piss out of each other and trying something new. And I think there’s something in that. As we get older, it’s really easy for life to become familiar. Same people. Same routines. Same places. Same conversations. And before you know it, the world starts getting a little smaller. But the moment you say yes to something different… Talk to someone you wouldn’t normally talk to. Try the local game. Eat something you’ve never eaten. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Make yourself look a bit stupid learning something new… Life opens up again. You don’t have to travel halfway around the world to feel alive. Sometimes you just need to step outside what’s familiar. Today, for me, that looked like playing pétanque in France with a bunch of strangers who weren’t strangers for very long. More of this. More curiosity. More cultures. More connection. More saying: “Go on then… I’ll give it a go.” When was the last time you tried something completely new? #Petanque #MidlifeMen #TrySomethingNew #HumanConnection #LiveYourLife
