@warrior.mamaa: what you may see: Sunny getting some pretty incredible opportunities. Going to NFL and NHL games. Standing on the sidelines. Field seats. VIP treatment. Meeting players. Personal messages from Ovi. Becoming best friends with Zay Flowers. And yes, we are incredibly grateful for every single one of those things. but what you may not see: The childhood she has had to miss out on to get here. Holidays spent in the hospital. A hospitalization with sedation and a huge needle in her spine when our family was supposed to be at the happiest place on earth… Disney. Nights in a hospital bed instead of her own. 19 long, brutal days stuck in one tiny hospital room on isolation while fighting sepsis, going into septic shock and coming dangerously close to losing her. The countless holidays, family outings, vacations, and completely ordinary childhood moments that cancer has taken from her. So while the sideline passes, field seats, VIP treatment, and opportunities are really cool, they are not compensation for what she has lost. They don’t take away the hospital stays where our family was spread apart. They don’t make the missed holidays or family vacations disappear. They don’t give her back the childhood cancer has taken from her. We would trade every single one of those experiences for a normal childhood. We don’t want her to be the little girl who gets the cool experiences because she has cancer. We want her to be the little girl who never had to have cancer in the first place. And while we appreciate and look forward to every cool opportunity that comes her way, we would give it all back in an instant for Sunny to be a healthy kid. #sunnystrong #childhoodcancer
