@japdmedia26: WASHINGTON, D.C., UNITED STATES 🇺🇸 Former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has taken on a new position at the U.S. State Department after her six-month appointment as special envoy for the Shield of the Americas expired in September 2026. A State Department official confirmed that Noem is now a senior adviser to Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau. She will continue working on the same Western Hemisphere security initiative. “Kristi Noem’s envoy status expired last month and she is no longer in the role,” the official said. “She is now a Senior Advisor to Deputy Secretary Landau and continues to work on the Shield of the Americas portfolio.” Noem also stated that the envoy position “was always a six-month appointment.” The change follows her removal as Homeland Security secretary in March 2026. President Donald Trump announced her replacement, then-Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma, while assigning Noem to the special envoy role. Her departure from the Cabinet followed controversies surrounding the department’s immigration-enforcement approach and a costly advertising campaign that prominently featured her. Louisiana Republican Senator John Kennedy said Trump “was pissed” after Noem told lawmakers that the president had approved the campaign’s spending. Trump told NBC News that he did not know about the campaign and “wasn’t thrilled with it.” At a Shield of the Americas meeting during the United Nations General Assembly in September, Trump praised Noem, saying, “I want to thank Kristi Noem for doing a really terrific job.” Noem previously served as governor of South Dakota and was an early supporter of Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. The key development: Noem has left the special envoy position, but she remains in the administration in an advisory role. Officials have confirmed the change without publicly providing further details about the transition. #KristiNoem #DonaldTrump #WashingtonDC #USA #japd
