If she's walked that daily she will know that sidewalk better than someone with sight.

It's the same as when a wheelchair used stands up or moves their leg... Needing a wheelchair doesn't mean you have to be fully paralysed... There are people who can move and even walk short distances sometimes... Doesn't mean they don't need a wheelchair after a few steps...

people are convinced due to movies and media that blindness is just pure black, its not! blindness varies, and only a small amount are completely blind and have no vision

Canes are also colour-coded. Red tip indicate fully blind. Others mean visibility impaired. Could be they have tunnel vision (like looking through a straw) to extreme myope. Ie, anything beyond a couple of inches is just a fog.

My son can see. He has no vision loss. He needs the stick because of his brain damage. He runs into things because it takes the eyes so long to get the information to his brain. People use these for a variety of reasons.

Why are people even doing this to strangers? Someone’s disability is never my business, but what anyone does around me, unless they’re harming others, is especially none of my business

its the same type of people that think a person is blind only if their eyes are white or missing

im confused. I used to use an app where I would be the "eyes" for a blind person. you sign up, get a call from a blind person that needs help. they hold their phone up and you tell them what to grab, where to go, read signs for them, etc

She has the screen turned all the way down unless she needs help that only eyeballs can provide.

Blind people can still hear. Maybe she’s talking to somebody or maybe she’s following GPS directions. She might be using her ears with her phone instead of her eyes. And even if she is using her eyes on the phone, that’s something that is easier to see things further away, potholes and sidewalks and other things.

Some ppl don’t realize that just because someone is legally blind doesn’t mean they’re 100% blind. And there’s a BUNCH of features on smartphones that help them use it 🤦♀️
