Your shoulder doesn’t just need to be mobile it needs to be able to CONTROL that mobility. 💪 For overhead athletes, shoulder stability is what allows you to produce force, absorb force, and maintain control when your arm is moving at high speeds. Whether you’re throwing a baseball, serving in tennis, hitting an overhead in pickleball, or pressing weight overhead, your rotator cuff and shoulder blade have to work together to keep the shoulder controlled throughout the movement. And this is where a lot of shoulder rehab falls short. 👉 Improving range of motion is great. 👉 Getting out of pain is important. 👉 But neither automatically means your shoulder is ready for overhead performance. A strong overhead athlete needs shoulder strength, rotator cuff endurance, scapular stability, dynamic control, and the ability to tolerate load at higher speeds. The goal isn’t just a shoulder that feels good sitting still. It’s a shoulder you can trust when you actually have to perform.
