@learnfromchrist: Gideon's 300 Defeated Over 100,000 Men Without Swinging a Sword Gideon called himself the least in his family. He asked God for proof twice. Then God cut his army from 32,000 to 300 so Israel could not say, "My own hand has saved me." That night, 300 men stood around a camp of over 100,000 with a trumpet in one hand and a torch in the other, and the enemy turned their swords on each other. Gideon called himself the least in his family, asked God for proof twice, and still went in with a trumpet and a torch. God cut the army down so Israel could not say, "My own hand has saved me." The weakness was never the obstacle. It was how everyone would know who won. A few more places to read: 📖 Judges 7:9-15: before the attack, God gave Gideon one more assurance. He overheard an enemy soldier describe a dream of a loaf of barley bread tumbling into the camp, and his comrade said it meant "the sword of Gideon." 📖 Isaiah 9:4: Isaiah points back to "the day of Midian" as the picture of God breaking an oppressor's yoke. 📖 1 Corinthians 1:27: "God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong." 📖 Hebrews 11:32-34: Gideon is listed among those "made strong out of weakness."
