@nichellelaus: A catalytic converter is part of your vehicle’s exhaust system. It helps reduce harmful emissions, but it also contains small amounts of valuable metals that can make it attractive to thieves, who may sell stolen converters into the scrap and recycling market for metal recovery. Toronto Police say 7 catalytic converters were stolen from Second Harvest delivery trucks over Thanksgiving weekend, leaving all 7 trucks out of service. Corey Peter Lane, 29, is facing multiple charges, including 3 counts of break and enter with intent to commit a criminal offence, 3 counts of failing to comply with a release order, and 3 counts of failing to comply with a probation order. Ways to reduce the risk: ✔️Park in a locked garage or fenced area when possible; otherwise, choose a well-lit spot with cameras or regular foot traffic. ✔️Ask a mechanic about a professionally installed catalytic-converter shield, cage or alarm. ✔️Ask whether VIN etching is available for your vehicle. ✔️For fleets, consider secure parking, motion lighting and regular checks of parked vehicles.
