At first, I thought he was joking. Then he explained that his daughter would be spending more time with us after the wedding, and because she “doesn’t like pets,” he thought rehoming my dog was the easiest solution. I reminded him that my dog has been with me for seven years. He isn’t just a pet—he’s part of my life and my home. My fiancé said I was making the situation “bigger than it needs to be” and that I should be willing to compromise for our future family. But something about that bothered me. Why is the compromise automatically me giving up something I love? Now I’m wondering whether this is really about his daughter not liking pets… or whether this is a glimpse of what married life will look like. Would you rehome the dog to keep the peace, or reconsider the wedding? #relationshipadvice #f#fiancew#weddingdramas#stepfamilydogmom
