theory!!! the reason they probably see pavi and Nisha like that is because of ravaa. the red rocks thingy might be from the spirit world and it could be a dark spirit maybe that's why dark spirits were so hostile to Korra because she was the avatar and the avatar represents light and hope not destruction and chaos like dark spirits do

My theory is that because of an anomaly or a powerful spirit or something, people saw Korra as a monster, that a destroyer that's why I remember korra being a destroyer and the people who weren't infected saw this, and and said that the avatar is the destroyer, so everyone has seen the avatar as a monster all these years because of that anomaly, whatever caused the cataclysm made the avatar appear as an enemy, I also believe that neither of them is the dark avatar, it makes no sense, if one of them was the dark avatar the other would have to destroy it and it would be reborn again and again, nothing gets solved like that, I think somehow they both have Raava, it's a new avatar cycle and new rules, we don't know how it works yet ok

I have a theory about that cursed energy! Let's call the cursed energy Kevin. I think during the 2nd episode when Kevin showed up, it started running to the one who was most scared. Which was the guy with the eyepatch(forgot his name) but as soon Kevin got him, he left to find paavi and nesha. They tried to fight off Kevin, but they couldn't, and Kevin touched them. Which gave them memories on things that happened that the forgot. Then it vanished. Ever since that, Kevin crystals have been growing around alura, and making the animals go crazy. But also the people, but only if they get touched by it or if they see something they shouldn't. What I mean by "see something they shouldn't," is when that one guy who saw nesha air bend and earth bend, Kevin possessed him because he wasn't supposed to see that. It's like Kevin is now paavi and nesha. Kevin makes the people go crazy and image scary images about the avatars because that's what they are most afraid of. Also in the latest episode, they were calling Kevin a spirits,and the "angry spirits" I think the angry spirits are korra and the other spirits in the spirit world, since there possible was no avatar for 200 years. Kevin (the spirits) got angered because they had no where to go. Which caused Kevin to posses random people, but since they weren't the avatars. They went crazy. Idk though
