It’s good but I feel Nathan and Lance have both touched on the subjects in this film before in better ways in their own respective works. Didn’t feel groundbreaking like I had hoped. With that being said, with this praise there will be people who staunchly oppose it because it’s the opposite of the popular opinion and I just gotta say, go watch it. Watch it to enjoy it and for the art not to decide if someone else’s opinion is correct or wrong.

I love the rehearsal! how similar would you say the vibes here are to that, if you’ve seen it?

Is there a bit of recency bias with the 4.7 rating on Letterboxd? I haven’t seen it yet so I’m concerned it’s good but people are inflating 😅

It is unfortunate that this might set the precedent of being the first documentary nominated for Best Picture, rather than Man with a Movie Camera, Sans Soleil, Shoah, Histoire(s) du cinéma, Tie Xi Qu: West of the Tracks, or Afternoons of Solitude. Quite revealing of the Academy’s Anglophone bias. I am not saying that the film will be bad; I am just saying that what might happen should have happened a long time ago.
