Privatized, for-profit health insurance is a scam. Why should the average person have to rely on maintaining employment to be able to access healthcare without risking bankruptcy while hoping that their insurance company's AI doesn't arbitrarily deny their claim? People don't apply for chronic illnesses, cancer, catastrophic injuries, etc, so why should the care they receive during, possibly, the worst moments of their life be dependent on if they can maintain their employment, pay hundreds or thousands of dollars a month in premiums, or pay the cost of care out of pocket? Universal healthcare is a public, non-profit sort of health insurance where people pay premiums in the form of taxes, the risk pool is the entirety of the country's population, and everyone can access the care they need

Rebecca Sullivan369 :
Insurance could work if it wasn't privatized and driven by profits alone but that's where we are

yeah, too bad there isn't some big organization we all give our money to that could provide us with housing stability and healthcare... it's not like anyone else has figured out the solution either, too bad, must be impossible

People choose not to read their coverage agreement and then get pissy that they get surprised.

Except... it doesn't fucking work like that.
You put money into it every month to have it, yes. AND THEN you have to pay your $3k - $6k+ deductible ON TOP of what you're paying in until the insurance will do a damned thing.
So why didn't I just save the money for myself? Or you know. Everyone pays into the same thing like every other country and then the country takes care of its people.
