when there was no one left to save me, there was my sister. She didn't have to say much either, her big brown eyes did all the talking. She didn't need to tell me everything would be okay, because when I looked at her I just knew. She'll never understand the way her presence pulled me out of places I didn't think I'd return from. She gave me motivation, a purpose, a reason to keep going. The thought of not waking up the next morning never scared me, but the thought of not having her did. The idea of opening my eyes and not hearing her footsteps, not seeing her tied up hair, or listening to her complaint about the thermostat, that would've actually killed me. because as long as she's her, as long as I get one more morning hearing her voice, I can keep fighting whatever demons are trying to pull me under. My sister might think she's just living her life, but she's saving me in ways she'll never fully understand. I don't need a miracle, a God, or a pill to come and save me, the truth is, I just need her, because when there is nothing left to save me, there will always be my sister.
