@mprnews: The major party candidates for Minnesota’s U.S. Senate seat faced off in an hourlong debate Friday on MPR News. It’s likely the only time Democratic nominee Peggy Flanagan and Republican nominee Michele Tafoya will debate ahead of the Nov. 3 election. Flanagan called the attack on Israelis by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, horrific, but said the response from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government in Gaza has been “deeply destructive.” She’s called it a genocide in the past.
