Sadly not everyone knows the zipper rule. and no one is going to bother to learn it. id rather merge early. then I don't have to sit for ages because everyone wants to not let me in

The amount of people that get mad at me for zipper merging is insane. But I know I’m doing it right so they can get mad all they want. It’s weird to let a stranger affect your mood so much. Just let the person in and move on with your life 😅

The thing that this doesn't take into account, a zipper only works properly when 1 tooth goes at a time. When 3 teeth try to fit in the same spot, the zipper no longer works.

If everyone did this it works. The issue is if you alone do this you get stuck hoping someone lets you over. Personally I trained myself to look for the sign before and I merge before the traffic even starts slowing. When I have to merge last minute I always wave a thank you to who let me in. Because they could choose not to and make it dangerous. I don’t expect anyone else to do this but I’ve driven a long time over 28 yrs without a single accident or ticket. I’ll keep being borderline paranoid not to deal with that hassle or out myself or my daughter in danger.

What? Meanwhile now there’s 2 lanes of traffic because they refuse to merge over or look down the damn road. There’s a reason the signs start telling you to merge a mile away

wrong. everyone going up the wrong lane causes a brake when they cut in. everyone that merges early are traveling a consistent speed, plus it's very rude to think your to good to wait like everyone else
