Get your forks ready! Oct 17th is National Pasta Day, a glorious excuse to carb-load and celebrate one of the world's most beloved foods. But why limit the fun to just one day? The entire month of Oct is National Pasta Month, giving you 31 days to twirl, slurp, and savor every delicious shape & sauce imaginable! #NationalPastaDay While we find noodles all over the world, pasta is a type of noodle of traditional Italian cuisine. The first reference dates to 1154 in Sicily and was first attested to in English in 1874. Typically, it is made from an unleavened dough of durum wheat flour. The flour is mixed with water or eggs and formed into sheets or various shapes. It can then be served fresh or dried to be stored for later use. HOW TO PREVENT STICKY PASTA Sticky noodles ruin a dish. Use these tips to make perfect pasta every time: 1. Season the water with salt before adding the pasta. While it won't keep the pasta from sticking, it is the best time to add flavor to your pasta. 2. Always bring the water to a boil before adding the pasta. Also, make sure you have plenty of water in the pot - too little and you'll need to add more. 3. Stir the pasta a few times while it's cooking. 4. Reserve some of the liquid before draining the pasta. Then run water over the pasta to help prevent sticking. You can even do this if you're eating it right away, especially if you're adding a sauce. If your sauce seems a little thick, add the reserved pasta liquid to thin the sauce & add more flavor. Try your hand with Homemade Pasta using this recipe for BASIC PASTA DOUGH. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes or overnight. 2. Flour your surface and hands. Divide the dough into quarters and flatten them slightly to form 2" (5-cm) round disks. Generously flour each disk. 3. Attach the Pasta Roller and turn it to setting 3. Set the mixer to Custom speed 1. Feed a dough disk through the roller twice. Continue this process with the remaining dough. 4. Turn the mixer off and turn the roller to setting 2. Feed each piece of floured dough separately through the roller twice to continue to thin and stretch out the dough. Repeat the same process on setting 1. 5. Cut the pasta sheets in half or to your desired length. 6. To make noodles, attach the Spaghetti Cutter or Fettuccine Cutter to the mixer. Feed the individual pasta sheets through and lay the noodles side by side on a flat surface. 7. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Drain the pasta and add it to your choice of sauce, if you’d like. COOK'S TIPS: 1. When you use too much flour, you can alter the color, texture, and taste of your pasta. The best way to measure flour is with a kitchen scale. Or, you can spoon the flour into a measuring cup and level it off. 2. You can store uncut pasta dough for up to 18 hours in the refrigerator or up to 2 months in the freezer. All you need to do is let the dough defrost in the refrigerator overnight before using it. 3. To freeze the noodles, let them dry on the counter for about 20 minutes, or until they’re no longer tacky. Sprinkle with flour. Pick up a small bundle of noodles and gently twirl it into a nest. Repeat with the remaining noodles. Place on a sheet pan and freeze them. Once frozen, place the nests into a plastic bag and freeze for up to 2 months. 4. To cook frozen pasta, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil before gently dropping in the frozen pasta nests. Stir the water to loosen the nests to ensure they cook evenly. The pasta should only need 3–4 minutes to cook, depending on the thickness of the noodles. 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗦: 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝘂𝘅𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗿 # 100833 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 & 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝘁 # 101231
