@tytradingcoach: I didn’t get here by simply knowing my rules. For years, I thought if I understood my mistakes, I could avoid repeating them. I was wrong. I would recognise the mistake, analyse why it happened, and promise myself I wouldn’t do it again. Then the next session would arrive, and I would fall back into the same behaviours. The hesitation, impulsive decisions and excuses returned. I was giving myself too much credit for understanding something I couldn’t consistently perform. Maybe you’re doing the same. You know your rules and have studied your mistakes, yet when the market moves, you still find reasons to bend them. Some of your rules may not be as clear as you think. They make sense when you’re calmly analysing charts. But when the market moves quickly, you find different ways to interpret the same situation. Every exception teaches you that exceptions are acceptable. That’s how bad habits develop. I stopped focusing on how determined I felt before opening my charts and started asking whether I could consistently perform the correct action, especially when that action was to do nothing. Following rules is an ability you develop through repeated, correct action. You practise until waiting becomes familiar, until walking away feels normal, and until doing nothing is part of your job. If you’ve been breaking the same rules for years, another promise won’t fix it. You need to examine the behaviours you’ve been practising and learn how to perform the correct ones consistently. Tomorrow won’t make you a different trader. Changing what you repeatedly do will.
