One of the hardest lessons in life is realizing that just because you’re willing to give someone everything doesn’t mean they’re willing to give you the same. You give your time, your energy, your loyalty, your patience, your understanding. You keep showing up, making excuses for their absence, and convincing yourself that if you just love a little harder, eventually they’ll meet you where you are. But love was never supposed to require you to abandon yourself just to keep someone else comfortable. Three hard truths you need to understand: 1. Your ability to love deeply is a gift, but giving endlessly to someone who consistently gives you the bare minimum isn’t proof of how much you love them. It’s a sign you may be neglecting yourself. 2. You cannot compensate for someone else’s lack of effort by doubling your own. Eventually, you’ll become exhausted trying to maintain a relationship that requires two people. 3. Someone doesn’t have to be a bad person for the relationship to be unequal. They may have their own struggles, limitations, or needs. But those things don’t erase yours. Ask yourself: Are you giving from a place of genuine love, or are you overgiving because you’re afraid of what might happen if you stop? Because sometimes, you aren’t just giving more. You’re trying to earn consistency, secure your place in someone’s life, or prove that you’re worth the effort. And that’s where you lose yourself. You shouldn’t have to become less caring. You need to become more intentional about who receives access to that care. Give with an open heart, but keep your eyes open, too. Pay attention to reciprocity. Pay attention to patterns. Pay attention to whether someone shows up for you when it costs them something, not just when it’s convenient. The lesson isn’t to stop giving so much love. It’s to stop making yourself empty trying to fill a relationship that the other person isn’t helping you build. If you’re ready to start your healing journey, click the link in my bio. I have free resources available to help you begin doing the deeper work within yourself. And if you need more personalized support, I also offer one-on-one calls as a certified life, health, and relationship coach. This page is dedicated to helping people navigate heartbreak, attachment wounds, emotional pain, self-awareness, and deep reflection through brutal honesty, psychology, faith, and inward healing. Follow me for a deeper look within yourself where hard truths meet self-awareness, healing replaces self-abandonment, and understanding yourself becomes the key to unlocking the life God intended for you. #lesson #loveyou #healing #chriscarrillo #fyp
