@infototheunaware: ALS, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurological disease that damages the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. 🧠 Some signs and symptoms may include: Muscle weakness in the arms or legs Muscle twitching or cramps Changes in speech Difficulty swallowing Trouble walking or maintaining balance Breathing difficulties as the disease progresses Who can be affected? ALS can affect adults of different backgrounds. Most cases occur without a known family history, although some are inherited. There is currently no cure, but treatments, therapies, assistive technology, and supportive care can help people manage symptoms and maintain quality of life. ❤️ A diagnosis does not erase a person's identity, dreams, intelligence, or worth.
