Correct. Named after Sholastique Picou, Married to Agricole Breaux, the Son of Firmin Breaux, who built the footbridge crossing the Bayou Teche. When her passed away, she named the settlement Pont Breaux. French for ‘Breaux Bridge. The bridge was built in 1799, the settlement was named about 30 years later! Very proud to be a resident!!!!
