@valueaddking: A brush fire near San Clemente spread into San Juan Capistrano today. Within hours, homes were burning and residents were being told to leave. The Norte Fire started around 11:30 a.m. near Portico Del Norte. Strong Santa Ana winds helped push it toward nearby neighborhoods. By the 3:30 p.m. update on October 16, ABC7 reported 465 acres burned, zero containment, and at least five structures burned. The full damage was still being counted. (abc7.com) Behind those numbers are people trying to get somewhere safe. On Via La Mirada, firefighters helped an elderly man leave his home with his medical equipment as thick smoke filled the area. Nearby, aerial footage showed several homes burning. (abc7.com) The fire also changed the day for families across the area. Nine schools dismissed students early, and the district canceled after-school programs and sports. Evacuation centers opened at the San Juan Capistrano Community Center and the San Clemente Community Center. (abc7.com) Thinking of everyone forced to leave home, and the crews working to protect these neighborhoods. If you’re nearby, follow official evacuation orders. Check on loved ones and keep roads clear for emergency crews. Share this with someone in South Orange County, and follow @valueaddking for more local news. Source and photo: ABC7 / AIR7. This is a developing story.
