@japdmedia26: Miami, Florida, USA American truckers are warning that rising diesel prices are squeezing profits, reducing routes and threatening smaller trucking businesses. Suave Dorsett of Miami, Florida, Tyler Rinaldi of Louisiana, and Avante Jackson of Charlotte, North Carolina, shared their concerns with Fox News Digital. AAA reported diesel averaging around $6.32 per gallon in the period covered by the report, more than 70% above the previous year's level. However, this was not the all-time record: AAA data shows a higher record of $6.5276 in September 2026. Dorsett, a trucker with nine years of experience, said fuel costs are rising faster than transportation rates. “Fuel prices is going up. The rates are not going up,” Dorsett told FND. “So, it’s hurting our pockets real bad.” He reported seeing diesel at $7.40 per gallon in Ohio and highlighted other expenses, including parking, repairs, towing and diesel exhaust fluid. “Some of the smaller companies, like the smaller owner-ops, would slowly fall off, and it’s going to create a chain effect,” he said. Louisiana trucker Tyler Rinaldi said his company has already reduced some routes. “I’ve seen a lot of routes get cut,” Rinaldi explained to Fox News Digital. “They’re not really running like they want to on the weekends right now.” He warned that fewer routes could reduce workers' earnings. “When they start cutting routes and trying to limit the expenses on what routes they send out,” he said, “that takes away from the people that work in the company’s pockets.” Avante Jackson, a Charlotte trucker with 11 years of experience hauling steel and construction materials, questioned how smaller businesses could remain profitable. “If I’m putting all of my profit in the tank,” Jackson said, “at the end of the day, what do I have left to keep the doors open?” Jackson cautioned against “fear-mongering” over possible shortages but said losing drivers could affect communities and consumers. “It really could hit the community,” he added. Jackson also appealed to President Donald Trump to consider the challenges facing independent operators. “My message to President Trump would just be to think about who’s keeping America moving,” Jackson told Fox News Digital. “Think about the little guys out here each and every day.” “We truly are the backbone of America,” he added. “We just want you to think about us and put yourself in our shoes. Let’s try to get the fuel prices down. We know we can do better.” The White House announced diesel-relief measures in October 2026. Whether those measures will provide lasting relief to trucking businesses remains uncertain. #Miami #LouisianaCharlotte #SuaveDorsett #AvanteJackson #japd
