SENTENCING - On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the judiciary at Chester Crown Court imposed a 10-year custodial sentence. Detective Constable Alicia Northern stated that Dever demonstrated a clear intent to abuse children through both digital distribution and physical action. The court also mandated an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to ensure the necessary protection of the public following his release from prison. OFFENCES - Dever pleaded guilty to two counts of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and seven counts of distributing indecent photographs of children. OUTCOME - Jailed for 10 years with an indefinite SHPO. NATURE OF OFFENCE - The offender utilised online communication as a mechanical necessity to coordinate the abuse of children. Upon his arrest by the NWROCU’s Internet Child Abuse Team, forensic examination of his mobile phone uncovered more than 1,700 Category A, B, and C images and videos, identifying a persistent and dangerous predatory intent.
