These permits are a requirement and are issued through a lottery system. There are two types of lotteries: 1. Advanced lottery: 🪨 Applicants can enter this lottery at any time of the year. However, depending on the month applied, you’d be applying for a permit 4 months in advance. For example, you apply in April for a chance to win a permit to go in August. 🪨 The lottery is ran on the 1st of every month at 9:00am and applicants are notified (immediately following the lottery) via email, whether they were selected or not. 🪨 They award 48 people and/or 12 groups (whichever comes first) permits through this Advanced Lottery. 🌟 2. Daily Lottery: this is the lottery I won on my first try. 🪨 Applications must be submitted two days before your hike during the lottery application window (6am - 6pm). Results are sent out at 7:15pm the same day. 🪨 You need a mobile device to apply - desktop or laptops will not work. 🪨 You must be in the geofence area to apply (areas include southern Utah and Northern Arizona. I was able to apply from Page, Arizona for reference.) Make sure to have Location services on otherwise you can’t enter. 🪨 They only grant permits to 16 people through the daily lottery. 🪨 The next day, you can get your permit at the pickup location at 8:30 AM local time which includes a short safety briefing. 🪨 Then that following day, you can hike The Wave! 🪨 Pro tip, you have a higher chance of winning if you apply for a weekday and for 1-2 people. As well as applying during the off-seasons. ‼️A BONUS way to potentially get a permit‼️ Follow @dreamlandsafari on Instagram and turn their story/post notifications ON. Sometimes, they have people who won a permit and have an extra spot on their permit with a purchase of their tour guide.
