Have you noticed that your hair may look fuller during pregnancy, but after delivery, your hair starts falling out, especially around the front of your head? Here is why! During pregnancy: Your hormone levels, especially estrogen, rise. This keeps more hairs in the growing stage for longer, so your hair may look thicker and fuller. After delivery: Your hormone levels drop. Many hairs that stayed in the growing stage during pregnancy begin to fall out around the same time. This is called postpartum hair loss. Why does the front hair look like it is disappearing? Some mothers notice thinning around their hairline, temples, or the front of their heads. The hair may look so thin that the scalp becomes visible. The good news is that this type of hair loss is often temporary. Hair shedding usually starts a few months after delivery and gradually improves over time. Many mothers notice their hair returning to its usual fullness within 6–12 months. What can you do? Eat balanced meals with enough protein, iron, and other nutrients. Avoid tight hairstyles, harsh chemicals, and excessive heat. Treat your hair gently when combing or styling it. See a healthcare professional if the hair loss is severe, you develop bald patches, or it does not improve. Other causes, such as iron deficiency or thyroid problems, may need to be checked. Dear mother, your hair is not necessarily disappearing forever! Your body has gone through many changes to grow your baby, and your hair may need time to recover, too. Mothers, did your front hair reduce after delivery? Did it grow back? Share your experience to encourage another mother!
