@jmoorevisuals: The Grotto in Portland, OR is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever visited. My favorite seasons to go are on a rainy fall day or during the holidays. The Plaza Level (lower level) is free to explore outside of the annual winter event, Festival of Lights. This level includes the rock-carved Grotto Cave with the Pietà replica, the Chapel of Mary, St. Peregrine Shrine, gift shop, and the Stations of the Cross path. The Upper Gardens are also a must-see though there is a fee year-round. According to their website, those gardens are temporarily closed through the end of January while the elevator that takes you there is being updated.
