@rabbit.quicknews: The Diplomat Season 4 Ends With Kate Resigning In Protest As The U.S. Sends War Ships Into British Waters Warning: spoilers ahead. Season 4 of Netflix’s “The Diplomat” premiered Oct. 15. It stars Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, the U.S. ambassador to the U.K. The season opens with President Grace Penn, played by Allison Janney, being sh*t in front of Windsor Castle. While she has emergency surgery, Kate’s husband, Vice President Hal Wyler, temporarily takes over. The U.S. has also stolen a Russian nuclear weapon called the Poseidon. After Grace recovers, her decisions become increasingly erratic. Her biggest move is to send unauthorized war ships into British sovereign waters. The goal is to stop Russia from finding out the Poseidon is gone. It sank with a Russian submarine in the North Sea. At the G7 summit in Italy, Grace announces the plan. She says the U.S. is “prepared to fire on any country that interferes with our mission.” Kate resigns in protest, in public. Right before, she tells Hal, “You didn’t know. Remember that.” They kiss. Then White House Chief of Staff Billie Appiah, Secretary of State Miguel Ganon, and Hal all resign too. Stuart Hayford, the Deputy Chief of Mission in London, also filed a formal objection. Grace recalled him from London. He threatened to sue the administration. The season ends as Hal walks toward a group of journalists to share the news.
