i swear by this black dye. im an avid Colourmill user but i find the black just doesn’t do it for me without using so much. i love using cocoa powder to darken it up to avoid using too much dye but if you have a customer who doesn’t like chocolate i recommend this specific color. not diamond black, not regular black. COAL black by chef master. i also always tell people that if you have the time always make your deeper colors 24-48 hours before to develop fully to avoid pulling out my immersion blender. also if black is a popular color for you-buttercream does well in the freezer if in an airtight package so you can always make a half batch and freeze it for later. the cake you made is beautiful!

for black buttercream, make it like normal and add cocoa powder and then add just a bit of black dye! tastes good and takes only a bit of black because it's going from brown to black instead of white to gray to eventually a grayish black instead of a deep black

with black all you have to do is quickly steam the cake when youre done decorating and it'll be a perfect black
